Filters and Cooker Hood Maintenance
Filters & Cooker Hood Maintenance
Using your Faber Cooker Hood
A cooker hood is most effective if it is turned on at least one minute before you start cooking. This creates a current of air so that cooking fumes and steam are extracted as soon as cooking begins.
Low speeds are generally sufficient to extract normal cooking smells and steam, such as when boiling pasta and vegetables.
High speeds should only be used when cooking foods that emit strong odours or smoke, such as when frying, grilling or cooking several dishes at the same time.
Leaving the hood on at a low speed for 10 minutes after cooking is usually enough time to ensure that residual odours and steam are removed from the cooking area.

Cleaning Your Hood
Hood Body
- Remove dirt with a damp sponge or cloth and a little soap*
- Rinse with a damp cloth
- Wipe dry with a soft cloth – if the hood is stainless steel follow this with a stainless steel polish
- Cleaning of the inside of the hood should be carried out once a year to prolong the life of your cooker hood
*Acid based or abrasive cleaning products can damage the surface of your hood.

Filters
If you’re looking to replace your filter, please look at the ‘Accessories’ section at the bottom of your cooker hood’s product page. This will explain which filters are applicable to your hood.

Grease filters
Metal grease filters should be washed every 2 months (based on normal hood use, up to 3 hours a day). The grease filters should be washed either by hand using neutral or acid free soaps or in the dishwasher. Please note: Some dishwasher soaps can discolour the grease filters.
Regular filter maintenance is essential to ensure that excessive grease and fat does not build up. Fat deposits can become a fire hazard if not regularly maintained.

Charcoal Filters (Recirculating Hoods Only)

Long Lasting Filter – 3 years MAX
Faber has developed a new, re-usable active carbon filter. Thanks to the multi-layer technology, the Long Lasting filter increases filtration efficiency; the first filter layer captures larger grease particles whereas the second layer provides more concentrated filtration to guarantee optimal air cleanliness.
The filter can be washed in the dishwasher every 3-4 months, for a maximum of 3 years (of normal use, around 3 hours a day) and dries at room temperature in a vertical position to allow the water to drain out. Alternatively, it can be placed in an oven at 50°C.

High Performance Filter – 6 months MAX
High-efficiency filter with a highly-concentrated carbon micro granular structure that can guarantee more than 80% filtration capacity of fumes intake and lasts a duration of up to 6 months, double that of a normal charcoal filter, making for economic savings of more than 20%.
