Top 5 Kitchen Designs of 2020

2020 produced some of the most exquisite and inspiring kitchens, even in the midst of one of the craziest years ever! Throughout the last year (including two lockdowns), we have been tagged in hundreds of posts. Many of you have excelled in your creativity, producing some of the most beautiful kitchen designs ever.

It was incredibly hard to choose my favourite kitchens (including some brand new renovations) featuring our breath-taking extractors. It took me a great deal of scrolling through our feed.  Finally, I have my top 5 kitchen designs of 2020 featured on the Faber Hoods UK Instagram account.

5. (IG) @Homeupdates_: featuring the Nest

At number five is this gorgeous kitchen from @homeupdates_. Lauren, Gary, and their sweet bulldog Nala are renovating their 4-bed detached house in Nottingham. Their gorgeous home has so much character, each room with its own contemporary feel. Since I saw them tag the stunning Faber Nest extractor on Instagram last year, I have loved following their renovation journey and getting regular Nala updates! Their modern kitchen design screams luxury. With a fresh innovation theme, the clever use of grey is a wonderful contrast to the sultry browns of the handleless cabinets.  The ceiling spotlights complement the Nest’s hand-poured glass beautifully. This extractor is the perfect centrepiece which gives this kitchen the wow factor.

4. (IG) @Hove.improvements: showcasing the Chloe

Up next, we have the wonderfully quirky house in Hove. Gemma and Fraser along with their mischievous seal-point ragdoll cat Bam (I am seeing a theme here) are currently renovating their Victorian house giving it a fresh new look. Their open plan kitchen required an extractor that could be mistaken as a work of art as it is always on show. Their copper Chloe has been ducted from the back so no chimney was needed. This retro design was perfect for their décor. I am in love with the classic combination of metallic and matt black flowing from the kitchen into the lounge. One of my favourite posts from their account is the one in which they perfectly coordinated their cat and tiles. This couple has such an amazing style which makes their home so inspiring, interesting and homely. I can’t wait to see the evolution of their house and for more beautiful photos of their happy cat.

3. (IG) @Beresfordect: starring the Pareo

My third favourite kitchen of last year belongs to the self-proclaimed “knot queen” Laura. This interior enthusiast’s home is every plant lovers dream, Laura always keeps her home feeling alive with stunning foliage- each one with its own name! This kitchen design is simple and modern, Laura expresses so much charm by creatively changing the mood and style by switching small features. The centrepiece of her kitchen is the unmissable Pareo Island extractor. I am always thrilled when I see a kitchen update from Laura who constantly rearranges her kitchen and shows off this amazing cooker hood.

2. (IG) @Homewiththemarks: presenting the High-light

In second place, we have homewiththemarks! I will never get enough of seeing Mark and Mark’s immaculate home. This lovely couple has been renovating Mark’s Grandparent’s house in Aberdeenshire since 2017. I am completely obsessed with their minimalist, contemporary open-plan kitchen which features Faber’s fabulous High-light ceiling hood. This extractor keeps their hob perfectly lit with its stunning perimeter LED. Mark is always sharing his inside knowledge of home décor via his Insta stories; I enjoy nothing more than a home renovation with a lovely backstory. I cannot wait to see what additions they make with their impeccable taste in 2021.

1. (IG) @alittlevictorianrenovation: introducing the Galileo

My favourite kitchen of 2020, is the incredible @alittlevictorianrenovation. This is another Nottinghamshire home renovation, with newly-modernised home features creating the kitchen of dreams. Becky and Ro have DIY-ed themselves one of the most wonderful homes. This couple is not afraid of colour, choosing the most amazing tones throughout each room using colour pallets to their full advantage. Their luxurious black marble island is out of this world. The Galileo venting hob is almost invisible with its flush black glass blending into the island. By choosing to combine the cooker hood and induction hob, they were able to hang the most stunning pendant lights directly above. The appliances in their kitchen don’t interfere with the décor meaning the island can take centre stage.

If you are ever in need of home décor inspiration, tips, and tricks of DIY or just want to follow the interesting lives of this lovely lot, go follow them on Instagram. Faber’s endless range of hoods, in all colours, styles, and ducting options meant each one of these kitchens found their perfect match. Our Faber family loves nothing more than being tagged in a customer kitchen photo, we get so excited to see where our Faber hoods end up.
